The Chicago Bulls start strong but finish poorly to suffer their fourth-straight loss at the hands of the Brooklyn Nets

The Chicago Bulls couldn’t sustain a sizzling start and dropped a 109-118 decision to the Brooklyn Nets on Sunday night.

The Bulls started the game like a house on fire, dropping one three-pointer after another to build a 36-19 lead after the opening period. At one point early in the game, the Bulls took a 30-9 lead. Chicago finished the first quarter hitting eight of their 12 three-point attempts.

Hot-shooting Brooklyn torches the net

The Bulls, however, suddenly lost their shooting touch in the second and the Nets were quick to capitalize. Brooklyn recovered from its first-quarter shooting slump by sinking 11 three-pointers in the second period which totally changed the complexion of the match.

With their three-point sniping finding the mark, the Nets were able to wrest the lead at the bend, 63-55. Brooklyn stayed hot in the final half and went on to finish the match with an NBA-season-best 25 triples, falling two three-pointers shy of a franchise record.

The Nets were also four trifectas away from tying the league’s record for most three-pointers made in a game.

Chicago’s slide continues

The Bulls for their part could only make five more triples after detonating eight three-point bombs in the opening quarter.

Demar DeRozan led the Bulls with 27 points, while Coby White added 23 markers.

Patrick Williams and Zach LaVine each had 20 points in the Bulls’ fourth straight loss and 13th in 18 games.

Nikola Vucevic could contribute six points for the Bulls in 37 minutes of playing time. Improving to 8-8 in the season, the Nets got 24 points from Spencer Dinwiddie.

Lonnie Walker IV and Royce O’Neale each had six three-pointers and added 20 points in the win.
