Donovan Mitchell Can't Keep Doing Everything For The Cavs

Donovan Mitchell continues to have incredible performances for the Cleveland Cavaliers, despite the team's lack of success.

There are a number of players in the NBA who are considered superstars and Donovan Mitchell is among that elite group. They're called "superstars" for a reason. Players with this status such as Mitchell are the best players on their team and can single handily be why they win a game.

Just because Mitchell has this status, he still needs to get some help from the rest of the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Mitchell is averaging 32.0 points, 3.6 rebounds, five assists, and 2.2 steals over his last five games. However, the Cavs as a team are just 1-and-4 over that period.

Cleveland needs to start getting him some help if they still have hopes of making a deep playoff run. They can't keep losing games while Mithcell puts up big numbers in elevated playing time.

The Cavs' loss to the Boston Celtics was a perfect example of how Mitchell is keeping Cleveland in games but the lack of support is costing them in the end.

Mitchell ended the game on Wednesday night with 44 points. He also played 43:34 minutes which was the most on the Cavs and almost half a quarter more than Jaylen Brown who led the Celtics in minutes with 37:20 min.

This was even after Mitchell reaggravated a groin injury that has been nagging him for months now.

Outside of Mitchell, the only other player on the Cavse to at least scare 15 points was Darius Garland who did finish the night with 29. But outside of this, any additional scoring was absent.

Cleveland bench finished the game with just 14 points. Caris LeVert scored 10 and Ricky Rubio scored four, that was it. LeVert's 10 points are even an improvement considering he's averaging just over five points a game in his last five games.

In order for Cleveland to guarantee themselves home-court advantage in the first round of the playoffs, or even not slip down into the play-in tournament, the supporting cast is going to need to contribute more.

Otherwise, it may be a disappointing April for Cavs fans.
