Blatt jokes: If Durant leaves Warriors, we'll take him

Former Cleveland Cavaliers coach David Blatt had some fun with the Golden State Warriors' drama involving Kevin Durant and Draymond Green, and the prospects of Durant leaving the Warriors in free agency.
Blatt returned overseas after being fired by the Cavs in the middle of the 2015-16 season. He is now the coach of Greek club Olympiacos.
“I will say this: If Kevin Durant suddenly decides to leave Golden State, we will take him,” Blatt joked prior to his team’s EuroLeague game vs. Real Madrid on Thursday. “I’ll be so honest with you and tell you, hands down, we’ll do that."
Blatt paused to smile.
“Being that that probably won’t happen anytime in the near future, then I can promise you all that we won’t take him,” he added.“And that’s the truth from the source.”
When it comes to the constantly churning basketball rumor mill, Blatt indicated things in Europe are very similar to the NBA.
"Somebody asked me about a player that we are (reportedly) getting," Blatt said. "I didn’t even know who he was. And I do know the market and I do know the players. And I didn’t know this player. I didn’t know if he existed.
“The market is always fluid. Things are happening. People suggest things to you out of nowhere that they want for you. And suddenly that becomes news. There’s nothing we can do to control that."
Blatt was a candidate for both the New York Knicks and Phoenix Suns coaching vacancies this past offseason.
