Former NBA point guard and four-time All-Star Mark Price has been fired from his position as men's basketball coach at Charlotte after two-plus seasons, the school announced Thursday.

Price, 53, reportedly signed a five-year deal worth $500,000 per season in 2015. During his time as coach, the 49ers posted a 30-42 overall record and 16-20 in conference play.

He spent nine of his 12 seasons with the Cleveland Cavaliers (1986-95), becoming one of the franchise's most cherished players. All four of his All-Star appearances came with the Cavs.

Prior to taking the job at Charlotte, Price was an assistant coach with the Charlotte Hornets, Atlanta Hawks, Golden State Warriors and Orlando Magic.

Assistant coach Houston Fancher will guide the 49ers on an interim basis, the school announced.
