Price to join Nuggets' coaching staff as shooting instructor

Former NBA All-Star point guard and longtime assistant coach Mark Price will join Mike Malone's coaching staff with the Denver Nuggets, according a report from ESPN.

Price, 54, spent his most-notable playing days with the Cleveland Cavaliers during the late 1980s and early '90s under then-coach Lenny Wilkens, and alongside franchise favorites such as Brad Daugherty, Larry Nance and the late John "Hot Rod" Williams.

Price went to the All-Star Game four times while with the Cavs, and won the NBA 3-Point Shootout on two occasions (1993 and '94). He was considered one the league's most lethal shooters, finishing with career averages of 40 percent on 3-pointers and 90.4 percent on free throws.

Not surprisingly, he will be utilized as primarily a shooting instructor with the Nuggets.

"Price's ability as a shooting instructor had a major impact in his previous NBA job with Charlotte, and that will again be a part of his duties in Denver," ESPN reported.

His NBA coaching career began with the Nuggets during the 2007-08 season. He has also been an assistant with the Atlanta Hawks, Golden State Warriors, Orlando Magic and Charlotte Hornets.

His lone experience as a head coach took place recently in the college ranks, from 2015-17 at UNC Charlotte.

Price's No. 25 was retired by the Cavaliers in 1999.
