The Cavs picked up Perkins' $2.5 million player-option for next season, but it was a salary-cap move to try and aggregate the veteran big man’s salary in addition to an existing contract to pursue trade possibilities.
Perkins, 33, has career averages of 5.4 points, 5.8 rebounds and 1.0 assists while shooting 53.0 percent from the field.
