Reports: Pelicans, Sixers eye trade

Philadelphia and New Orleans are engaged in trade talks centered on 76ers big man Jahlil Okafor, according to multiple reports.

Several NBA agents told Amico Hoops that Pelicans point guard Jrue Holiday has also been mentioned in conversations between the teams.

Meanwhile, ESPN reported that "unhappy" center Alexis Ajinca and a future first-round pick could go back to Philadelphia in a deal for Okafor.

Okafor was selected with the No. 3 overall pick in the 2015 draft, and averaged 17.5 points, seven rebounds and 30 minutes per game in his rookie season.

But his role has been diminished with the emergence of center Joel Embiid -- playing in his debut season after missing the previous two with injuries.

"I'm happy where I'm at right now," Okafor told reporters following the Sixers' loss to Detroit on Monday.

"It's all rumors, until it comes true."

The Sixers reportedly were looking to move center Nerlens Noel initially, according to sources, but have since shifted their trade efforts to Okafor.

Interestingly, they traded Holiday to the Pelicans for the rights to draft Noel with the sixth overall selection in 2013.

"In New Orleans, general manager Dell Demps faces increasing pressure and is well aware that he needs to find more support for his franchise centerpiece in Davis," USA Today wrote.

The newspaper added that the Pelicans would "want lottery protection for the first pick."
