It has been a very productive day for Cleveland Cavaliers guard Donovan Mitchell.

Earlier on Thursday, the 27-year-old was named the NBA’s Eastern Conference Player of the Month for January.

Then, just hours later, Mitchell was named a 2024 NBA All-Star reserve for the Eastern Conference.

This marks the Cleveland guard’s fifth consecutive All-Star selection, and fourth as a reserve. According to Stathead, Mitchell is one of just seven players to be named an All-Star in each of the last five seasons, joining Giannis Antetokounmpo, Luka Dončić, Joel Embiid, LeBron James, Nikola Jokić, and Jayson Tatum, each of whom was named 2024 NBA All-Star starters last week.

Mitchell has now been named an NBA All-Star in each of his first two seasons with the Cavaliers, while averaging 28.3 points per game in his first 104 regular-season games with the team.

This latest accolade adds another to his 2023-24 résumé. Mitchell was also named to the 2024 USA Men’s Basketball National Team Player Pool last month ahead of the 2024 Summer Olympics.

He currently ranks top-10 in the NBA in both points (28.2, seventh) and steals (1.9, third) per game. Mitchell is also averaging career-bests in rebounds (5.5), assists (6.4), steals, and blocks (0.5) per contest.

Through his first 36 games, he has scored in double-figures in 35 of them, while recording 15 30-point games and four 40-point contests. Mitchell most recently tied his season-high of 45 points last night in a 128-121 victory over the Detroit Pistons.

Fans of the Wine and Gold will be able to watch him compete in the 73rd NBA All-Star Game on Sunday, February 18 at 8 p.m. on TNT.
