The Cleveland Cavaliers currently own the NBA’s longest active winning streak at nine games.

During this impressive run, the Wine and Gold have now added a new player to their roster.

On Sunday, the Cavaliers announced that they have signed NBA G League guard Zhaire Smith to a 10-day contract.

The 24-year-old is the second player Cleveland has signed to a 10-day contract this season. Pete Nance signed a 10-day contract with the team last month, and has since returned to the Cleveland Charge.

Smith has performed well with the Charge so far this season. In 36 combined Showcase and regular-season games, he has averaged 12.8 points, 4.3 rebounds, 1.7 assists, 1.4 steals, and 0.9 blocks per contest.

Smith has also shot 54.3% from the field, 40.4% from three-point range, and 79.6% from the free throw line.

Additionally, he played in the Cavaliers’ first three preseason games this year, totaling two points, five rebounds, two assists, and three steals.

Smith has played 13 career NBA regular-season games with the Philadelphia 76ers, averaging 3.7 points and 1.2 rebounds per contest, and has not appeared in an NBA regular-season game since 2020.

He was originally a first-round pick in the 2018 NBA Draft by the Phoenix Suns (traded to Philadelphia) out of Texas Tech. Smith played one collegiate season with the Red Raiders, averaging 11.3 points, 5.0 rebounds, 1.8 assists, 1.1 blocks, and 1.1 steals per game.

He was named 2017-18 All-Big 12 Honorable Mention and to the 2017-18 All-Big 12 Defensive Team, while helping lead Texas Tech to the 2018 Elite Eight.
