Report: Russell Westbrook Talked With Clippers, Bulls, Wizards, and Heat

Russell Westbrook has reportedly started potential buyout communications.

Russell Westbrook has seemingly started the process of potentially getting bought out by the Utah Jazz. According to a report from Adrian Wojnarowski, the Utah Jazz has given Westbrook permission to communicate with the Chicago Bulls, LA Clippers, Washington Wizards, and Miami Heat.

"The Jazz have given him permission, he and his agent Jeff Schwartz, to go out and talk to teams. See if there is a potential role out there for him in a contract buyout. Among the teams they have communicated with, the Bulls, the Clippers, the Wizards, and the Miami Heat. Russell Westbrook, with the All-Star break coming, there is time to think this thing through. None of these teams are in a real rush, it's a very lean buyout market potential. There's always a chance Russell Westbrook just finishes out the season under contract, balance of a $47 million deal. But, there is interest in him. Both teams, and Westbrook, are trying to get a sense of what a role would look like, and how does that setup Russell Westbrook for free agency."

It's hard to exactly how the Clippers would fit on the LA Clippers or Miami Heat. The Clippers could have really used him two months ago, but they really need to see how their team looks with all of the new players. There are under 30 games left in the season and what's more important for the Clippers is getting reps in. Realistically, the Chicago Bulls and Washington Wizards would be perfect fits for Russell Westbrook. They're both low-pressure situations where he could raise his value.
