Former Grizzlies Player Calls Out Denver Nuggets

In this story:
While the Denver Nuggets are still favored by many to win the Western Conference, it’s hard to feel great about their offseason. Losing key contributors without making great additions, the Nuggets are banking on steps forward from players already on their roster.
During a recent episode of No Chill with Gilbert Arenas, former NBA star Gilbert Arenas called out the Denver Nuggets for not making any moves this summer, saying he hates when championship teams feel they don’t need to make any additions.
“Denver didn’t make any moves that they needed to,” Arenas said. “I hate when championship teams do that where you think you’re good enough to repeat. The Bulls did it, but you still gotta add something. You still gotta make a deal, do something to elevate. No one’s seen you coming, now they do see you. They see you now, so you have to add another piece that they didn’t see coming.”
Arenas never won a championship, but did play 31 career playoff games, including six in his final season with the Memphis Grizzlies. The former NBA star believes the Nuggets will still be good this season, but thinks their offseason allowed the Suns to pass them up.
While there are certainly championship teams good enough to run it back, the Nuggets lost one of their best role players in Bruce Brown, and didn’t replace him in free agency. While the loss of Brown probably should not make Denver fall below other Western Conference teams in the power rankings, there are reasons to believe the defending champions got worse this summer.
