Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant is without a timetable for return, as he is currently away from his team after flashing a gun during an Instagram live video. Grizzlies head coach Taylor Jenkins addressed the media before Sunday night's game against the LA Clippers, and spoke extensively on the situation.

"He understands he's made some difficult decisions and poor choices in the past that he has to account for," Jenkins said. "That's why you see in his statement, it speaks for itself that he understands he's got to get help to get into a better place. Not just for himself, but also for his team. He's definitely embracing the mistakes that he's made, but only time will tell. We're going to support him like I said and we're going to hold him accountable to make those changes."

On who Morant is as a person, Jenkins added, "He has the ultimate care factor. He's got an unbelievable heart. Obviously, these are tough times for him and tough times for the organization. But you've got to really peel back and understand the person that he is. He's genuinely an amazing person, great family person you talk about as a father, brother, son and a member of our community. This is a tough time for a young kid that's got to grow and to get better."

Perhaps the most important thing that Jenkins said, is that while the Grizzlies are supporting Morant in his pursuit of bettering himself, they also acknowledge that he needs to be held accountable for his actions.

"We take it very seriously," Jenkins said. "There are two elements to this that I want to make very clear. There's a supportive element to somebody that's got to get better and needs some help. There's also accountability to the team that we have to stand for. Obviously nationwide and leaguewide, there's a lot of attention on gun violence. For us internally in this matter, that's the stance we've taken in how we can support Ja throughout this growth opportunity. It's a learning opportunity. Hopefully we can be better from it."
