Grizzlies Give Major Update on Return Timeline for Key Player

In this story:
The Memphis Grizzlies announced on Thursday morning that starting center Steven Adams will miss at least another four weeks with a PCL strain that was recently reevaluated. In a statement, the team wrote, "Following a recent reevaluation, Memphis Grizzlies center Steven Adams underwent a stem cell injection yesterday as he continues his recovery from a PCL sprain in his right knee. Adams will be reevaluated in approximately four weeks."
This is another unfortunate blow to a Grizzlies team that has been spiraling out of control over the last week. Already without Ja Morant who is away from the team, and Brandon Clarke who is done for the season, Memphis may be without their starting center for the remainder of the regular season as well.
While Steven Adams does not get much publicity on a Grizzlies team that has players like Ja Morant, Desmond Bane, and Jaren Jackson Jr., he has been a key piece to what they have done this season. Starting in each of the 42 games he has played in, Adams is averaging 8.6 PPG and 11.5 RPG, which would rank 4th in the NBA if he met the minimum games played requirement for statistical leaderboards.
Adams has also provided solid rim protection for Memphis this season, swatting 1.1 shots per game, while allowing opponents to shoot just 52.5% within six feet of the basket. That defensive field goal percentage inside of six feet ranks 3rd best in the entire NBA amongst all players defending at least six shots per game from that distance.
Needless to say, the Grizzlies will miss Steven Adams while he remains sidelined.
