Ja Morant Reacts to First Game Since Suspension

In this story:
The Memphis Grizzlies defeated the Houston Rockets in Ja Morant's first game back from suspension. In an attempt to maintain some lineup continuity, while also getting Morant back up to speed with his conditioning, the Grizzlies brought their star guard off the bench for the first time in his career.
Morant got a loud ovation from the crowd when he checked in for the first time, and he played well off the bench, giving the Grizzlies 17 points, 5 assists, 4 rebounds, 2 steals, and a block in just under 24 minutes of play. Morant was also a game-high +11, as his minutes were incredibly impactful for the Grizzlies.
When asked for his initial reaction to his first game back, Morant said he is still numb to it all. Morant added that he is thankful to everybody, as he had the support of his teammates, organization, and fanbase throughout what was a difficult learning experience.

“I’m kind of numb right now, but thankful for everybody.”
Memphis did well to win games in the absence of their star point guard, but getting him back injects a real belief that they can take this momentum all the way. Having now gotten this first game out of the way, Morant and the Grizzlies can build off of this solid win as they move towards the playoffs. While it is unclear how long Morant will come off the bench, it feels reasonable to expect that he will be back in the starting lineup sooner rather than later.
