Ja Morant Reacts to Grizzlies Signing Derrick Rose

While Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant has not been active on social media much this summer, he did break his silence to react to the Derrick Rose news. It was announced on Friday evening that the Grizzlies had agreed to a two-year contract with Rose, who will serve as a depth piece and veteran leader for Memphis.

Upon hearing the news, Morant sent out this Tweet:

Morant will of course serve a 25-game suspension to begin next season, which should give Rose an opportunity to make an impact on the court. Having lost Tyus Jones to the Washington Wizards in the three-team trade that brought back Marcus Smart from the Boston Celtics, the Grizzlies lost their reliable backup point guard. While Smart will fill in nicely as the Grizzles' starting point guard in Morant's absence, having somebody like Rose to play behind him should be important.

Rose did not play much last season, as he was not in the rotation for the New York Knicks much at all. Averaging a career-low 12.5 minutes per game last season, Rose certainly hopes for an opportunity to contribute a lot more on the court next season.

While Rose is almost 35 years old, he should still be able to provide Memphis with minutes while they await the return of Ja Morant - who is excited for this addition.
