Latest Injury Update on Derrick Rose Revealed

In this story:

Already down star point guard Ja Morant, the Memphis Grizzlies have been without veteran point guard Derrick Rose as well. The former league MVP has been dealing with a knee injury that could sideline him for at least a few more games.

According to The Memphis Commercial Appeal, Grizzlies head coach Taylor Jenkins said Rose is "week-to-week" right now with this injury. While Rose is of course not the player he once was, the Grizzlies brought him in with the expectation that he would play quite a bit in Ja Morant's absence. Many have spoken about Rose as a veteran leader, which is certainly is for this Memphis group, but he was also signed to play a role on the court.

Rose's injury is one of several that the Grizzlies are dealing with right now, and they are of course all on top of the suspension of Morant, who is eagerly awaiting his first opportunity to get back out there with his team. The Grizzlies have fallen to 1-7 in Morant's absence, which puts them in a serious hole. While it is still very early, climbing out of this early season hole is not going to be easy for Memphis, especially in a Western Conference that doesn't have many tanking teams.

The return of Rose will be a key one, but it might not be as soon as fans were hoping.
