Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant missed Tuesday night's game against the Orlando Magic with what the team called thigh soreness. While it is concerning any time a star player is held out due to injury, Grizzlies head coach Taylor Jenkins said before the game that this was just standard soreness for Morant as he works his way back after a nine-game absence. Jenkins said this is not something he expects the hold Morant out for multiple games.

With the Grizzlies playing the front-half of a back-to-back on Tuesday, it seems as if the team wanted to save Morant for Wednesday night against the LA Clippers. Not wanting their star guard to appear in back-to-back games just yet, the Grizzlies opted to hold Morant out against a bottom-tier Eastern Conference opponent on Tuesday night, in order to have him available for the Western Conference matchup against the Clippers on Wednesday.

This is great news for the Grizzlies and their fans, as it indicates no real concern regarding Morant and his injury absence. Despite a late-game run from the Orlando Magic, the Grizzlies were able to hold on and get a victory without Morant on Tuesday night. This is now seven-straight wins for Memphis, as they continue to be the hottest team in the NBA.

While Memphis has been solid without Morant all season, they know they need him in the mix in order to get to where they want to go. This explains the cautious approach to his return to play, which currently does not include back-to-backs.
