Every Atlanta Hawk Poised to Hit Free Agency After This Season

The 2026 NBA offseason has more or less wrapped up (waiting on you Peyton Watson and Jonathan Kuminga) and with the NBA schedule coming out in full tomorrow afternoon, the 2026-2027 season is inching closer and closer.

But it is never too early to start looking ahead to next offseason, and it could be one of excitement for the Atlanta Hawks. Atlanta has set itself up to be a major player in either a star trade or to open up lots of cap space next offseason to chase big-time players, and they are in that position because they have a large number of expiring contracts on their team.

Let's look ahead to who is set to be a free agent for Atlanta next offseason.

CJ McCollum

When McCollum came over from the Washington Wizards in the Trae Young trade, he was seen as an expiring salary that the Hawks could use and then move on from in the offseason. McCollum was much more than that, though.

Once he was inserted into the starting lineup, Atlanta finished the season 20-6 and McCollum was the hero in two playoff wins over the New York Knicks. He was re-signed to a one-year deal this offseason and it will be interesting to see his future in Atlanta beyond this year.

His age (35) is going to play a big factor in this decision, as is the growth of this year's No. 8 overall pick Kingston Flemings. Who is available to be had on the trade or free agent market will influence that.

Luguentz Dort

Of the players on this list, I think Dort is most likely to be back with the Hawks after the season. He fits their age timeline and is one of the elite perimeter defenders in the sport.

How he shoots the ball and fits on offense will determine a lot about his contract value next season, but Dort will be a valuable member of the Hawks this season and possibly beyond.

Jock Landale

Landale did an admirable job as the Hawks' backup center last season after the trade deadline and he will be back in the same role this season.

Landale's health is going to be essential for this Hawks team, as they don't have an obvious answer for another center behind him. He brings floor spacing and physicality to the team and should have a nice season. Will he be back beyond the upcoming season though?

Mouhamed Gueye

Gueye is entering his fourth season with the Hawks and has developed into a really nice defensive player off the bench for Atlanta. While his latest injury news is disappointing and his spot on the roster is not certain right now, Gueye has been a fantastic developmental story for the Hawks, and if he remains on the team, he should be solidly in the rotation once he returns.

Other possible free agents

While there are no other expiring contracts, the Hawks could have more space open up depending on a few situations.

Buddy Hield's contract is only guaranteed for $3.1 million next season if he is waived by a certain date, Devin Carter has a team option for 2027-2028 that has to be decided on by Oct. 31, and Ryan Nembhard is set to be a restricted free agent after the season.
