Jalen Johnson's Terrific Month of March Earns Him Conference Player of the Month

The Atlanta Hawks were the best team in the Eastern Confernece (and arguably the NBA) through the month of March and it is only right that their star player is rewarded for it.
Today, the NBA announced that Hawks forward Jalen Johnson has been named the Eastern Conference player of the month. Lakers star Luka Doncic was named the Western Conference player of the month.

Big Time Month
Johnson earns his first Player of the Month honor and becomes the first Hawk to win the league’s monthly award since January 2015, a month in which DeMarre Carroll, Al Horford, Kyle Korver, Paul Millsap and Jeff Teague collectively won the award.
The 2026 NBA All-Star appeared in 13 of Atlanta’s 15 games during the month, averaging 22.4 points, 8.5 rebounds, 8.5 assists and 1.1 steals in 36.1 minutes. He was the only Eastern Conference player to average at least 20.0 points, 8.0 rebounds and 8.0 assists in the month of March and one of only two players in the entire NBA, joining Denver’s Nikola Jokic.

Johnson, whose triple-double against Orlando on March 16 halted the Magic’s seven-game winning streak, marked his 15th career triple-double, becoming the ninth-youngest player (24 years, 88 days) and ninth-fastest player (245 games) in NBA history to 15 career triple-doubles. He owns 13 triple-doubles this season, the most in a single season in franchise history and tied for the second-most triple-doubles in the league.
The fifth-year forward, who owns the third-most total assists in the NBA this season, handed out his 1,000th career helper in a win over Sacramento on March 28. Appearing in his 250th career game, Johnson became the fastest player in franchise history to 3,500 points, 1,500 rebounds and 1,000 assists and at 24 years, 100 days, he became the second-youngest player in team history to do so. This season, Johnson has 1,552 total points, 698 total rebounds and 548 total assists, one of only two players in the league with at least 1,500 points, 500 boards and 500 assists.
Johnson is averaging career highs of 22.8 points, 10.3 rebounds and 8.1 assists this season, in addition to 1.3 steals in 68 games (all starts), on pace to become just the fifth player in NBA history to average at least 22.0 points, 10.0 rebounds and 8.0 assists in a single season. He ranks fifth in assists per game this season, seventh in rebounds per game and 19th in points per game, on pace to be the first player in franchise history to rank top 20 in all three categories.
Teammate Nickeil Alexander-Walker was named as a finalist for Eastern Conference Player of the Month, averaging 22.7 points on .528 FG%, .468 3FG% and .942 FT%, in addition to 3.9 assists, 3.1 rebounds and 1.7 steals. He became the first player in the league to average at least 20.0 points on .500/.400/.900 shooting splits in a single month since Kawhi Leonard in January 2024 (min. 15 GP) and the first Hawk to do so in franchise history (min. 10 GP), per Elias Sports.
