New Report Links Hawks to Knicks Guard Quentin Grimes, Also Suggests Hawks Won't Trade Bogdan Bogdanovic

In this story:
The NBA trade deadline is just one week away and the Hawks continue to be a team that is in the rumor. Most reports have centered around guard Dejounte Murray and where he might end, but the Hawks have been linked to a number of targets, including New York Knicks guard Quentin Grimes.
According to a report today from Michael Scotto at HoopsHype said that Grimes has come up in trade talks with Atlanta:
"Grimes has also come up in multiple trade discussions with the Atlanta Hawks for guard Dejounte Murray and a separate smaller discussion involving AJ Griffin, league sources told HoopsHype. The Hawks are intrigued by Grimes as a potential 3-and-D fit next to Trae Young, sources said.
Griffin, a CAA client, has fallen out of Atlanta’s rotation after showing promise as a rookie, averaging 8.9 points in 19.5 minutes on 46.5 percent shooting from the field and 39 percent from beyond the arc.
As previously reported by HoopsHype, the Knicks have dangled the expiring contract of Evan Fournier, Grimes, and draft pick compensation for a potential upgrade."
I think Grimes is a quality trade target for the Hawks because he would be a good complement to Trae Young. The biggest strengths for Grimes are his defense and his three-point shooting. He is not a player that needs the ball in his hands a lot and those are things that will likely work best alongside Young.
Scotto also had an interesting note about Bogdan Bogdanovic, who has not been in the trade rumor mill quite as much.
"Despite the goal of trimming future salary, one player with a sizable contract going forward the Hawks seemingly want to keep past the trade deadline is Bogdan Bogdanovic, according to rival executives and league sources who’ve spoken with HoopsHype. Heading into Friday’s slate of games, Bogdanovic has made a three in 56 straight games, the second-longest active streak in the NBA. He leads the East with 141 made threes as of Jan. 31 and is at the start of a four-year, $68 million contract."
There was one thing that should trouble Hawks fans in Scott's report: Atlanta is just making moves to avoid the luxury tax:
"With the Hawks seeking two first-round picks and looking to shed future payroll without taking any back to avoid the luxury tax next season in trade talks for Murray, there’s been a roadblock to a suitable trade thus far with potential teams interested such as the Lakers, Knicks, Nets, etc."
The Hawks have made several moves to try to get under the luxury tax in recent seasons, including the trade to send Kevin Huerter to Sacramento and the salary dump of John Collins to Utah last summer and it has made fans question moves that owner Tony Ressler has made.
The next week is sure to be full of rumors and possible moves for the Hawks. Until then, they are the healthiest they have been since November, on a two-game winning streak, and face the Phoenix Suns on Friday night at home.
