LeBron James Says Not Winning Defensive Player Of The Year With Miami Heat In 2013 Still Stings

LeBron James has plenty trophies to hardly get upset about anything missing from his case.

There is one omission, however, that still "stings." James apparently continues to fume about being bypassed for Defensive Player of the Year in 2013 when he came in second while playing for the Miami Heat. He spoke of it on a recent appearance on "The Shop."

"Yea, Defensive Player of the Year," James said. "That's the only award I don't have in my house. That kind of stings. It don't make sense."

James had one of his best defensive seasons but lost out to Memphis Grizzlies center Marc Gasol.

"The year I finished second in the Defensive Player of the Award, the guy who won Defensive Player of the Year didn't even make first-team All-Defense," James said. "How is that even possible?"

James was accompanied on the First Team with Tony Allen, Serge Ibaka, Tyson Chandler, Joakim Noah and Chris Paul that season. Gasol was chosen for Second Team.

James was passed over despite leading the Heat to one of the best seasons in NBA history. They won a league-high 66 games on the way to winning their second straight title, defeating the San Antonio Spurs in six games.

James went far as comparing it to rapper Jay-Z's speech at the Grammy Awards in February. Jay-Z expressed his frustrations about his wife, Beyonce, being bypassed for album of the year despite having the most Grammy Awards.

“I don't want to embarrass this young lady, but she has more Grammys than everyone and never won album of the year.” Jay-Z said in his speech.
