Retired Miami Heat guard Ray Allen infamously nailed the game-winning 3-point shot against the San Antonio Spurs in Game 6 of the 2013 NBA Finals.

The buzzer beater came from the corner with little time on the clock along with small amounts of space to release a clean look. Allen's shot kept hope alive for the Heat, with the Spurs up 3-2 in the series. The game-clincher did not go to waste, as the Heat won by seven points in Game 7 behind superstar performances from LeBron James and Dwyane Wade. Allen explained the process behind the miraculous shot on a recent episode of "The Old Man and the Three' podcast with JJ Redick.

"The shot in the corner over Tony Parker when we were talking earlier about preparation and routine, one of the most famous shots in NBA Finals history, one of the most famous shots in NBA history, what went into that shot?" Redick asked.

"That day, you think about that series, that's Game 6, so I did that in just, if you just think about those six games, I did that at least 30 to 40 shots before every game and then every shooting between," Allen said. "For me, it was a right that I had to be able to push on a daily basis to be able to move and shoot a shot where I can go sideways and then the ball comes up in the air."

The All-Star sharpshooter delivered one of the most exhilarating buzzer beaters in NBA history, but not all fans realize the immense amount of work required to execute at the level he did.
