Miami Heat’s Kevin Love Named Latest Guest Curator For Sotheby’s Contemporary Curated Auction
Miami Heat forward Kevin Love is viewed as a leader and mentor for the team, but not all know that some of his strongest passions stem off the floor.
Love has a strong interest in art and has received the honor of being Sotheby’s latest guest curator for their contemporary curated auction. Over the past few weeks, he has worked alongside Sotheby’s specialists to assemble eight pieces of artwork that resonate with his collecting vision.

The five-time All-Star and NBA champion recently spoke with me in regards to his collaboration with Sotheby’s, the artists, and the significance of their work.
"Well yeah, I mean, being part of the Sotheby's as a guest curator here in New York is something really special," Love said. "I've seen some of the people that have done it before, and it's super exciting to be selected as somebody to do this and to select pieces that align with who I am, what my interests are. It's always exciting to see Sotheby's across the board. Or with watches and cars with wine, etc, do these auctions. I'm always very familiar with what they're doing, close with the number of people that work there. And in New York City, there's just such an eclectic group and mix of people and artists among those people that get me really excited about things like this."
"But some of the artists would be some of the greats, like Cy Twombly. Naturally, he's somebody that always pops up in some of the greatest of all time and somebody that has always been kind of in my wheelhouse, and somebody that has inspired me over time. There's Antony Gormley as well. He has sculptures, installations, and public artworks that really, I guess you could say, investigate the relationship with the human body in space."

It’s abundantly clear that Love still has an impact on the court. However, he seems ready to pursue other interests after retirement. The live auction takes place in New York on September 28, 2023.
