Parting Ways With Kyle Lowry Was A "Business" Decision For Miami Heat

The Miami Heat traded Kyle Lowry to the Charlotte Hornets for guard Terry Rozier

The Miami Heat were fortunate to have future Hall of Famer Kyle Lowry on the roster.

Now, the Heat can reflect on the time they had with him. Lowry was traded earlier this week to the Charlotte Hornets for guard Terry Rozier. In Lowry's time with the Heat, they made the Eastern Conference finals twice and the NBA Finals last year.

"We all pushed to get Kyle here and it was for a reason," Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said. "Kyle, you can never define him by stats. His whole career, as an ultimate winner, you define him by whether your team is winning or not and how it's functioning. The first two years, the resume speaks for itself."

Spoelstra said the decision to move Lowry was a "business" one. The Heat lacked scoring at the point guard position, which Rozier should fill.

"As a human being, I've gotten to know him a long time before we got him," Spoelstra said. "I just really respect him and enjoy him as a human being. I'll miss that. This is part of the business. You come to really develop some strong relationships with people and sometimes you have to make a business decision and that's what this was."
