Portland Trailblazers Having ‘Lukewarm’ Stance On Tyler Herro Could Impact Potential Damian Lillard Trade with Miami Heat

Portland Trailblazers apparently have a lower trade value for Tyler Herro

The Portland Trailblazers are reportedly not high on Miami Heat guard Tyler Herro.

On Wednesday, Sports Illustrated's Chris Mannix reported, the Blazers have limited interest in Herro.

"While any trade will be a collaborative effort between the team and Lillard, the Blazers will understandably want the best possible return. Portland is lukewarm on Tyler Herro," Mannix wrote.

During the offseason, speculation began about Lillard being traded to the Heat. One of Miami’s biggest assets in this offer is Herro, the 2022 Sixth Man of the Year. The Trailblazers are showing little interest in him being the center of this deal.

Portland may decide they want to begin a rebuild with a core that includes the No. 3 pick in this year’s draft, Scoot Henderson, and Shaedon Sharpe. Herro entering the first year of a four-year, 130 million-dollar contract may lower the Trailblazers value of him.

Last season, Herro averaged 20.1 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 4.2 assists on 43.9 percent shooting from the field. He only played one game during the postseason after sustaining a broken hand in Game 1 against the Milwaukee Bucks.

The Heat went on a historic playoff run, making the Finals despite playing without their third-leading scorer. After this run without Herro, it likely lowered his value to other organizations.

Miami would struggle to offer a package without Herro unless center Bam Adebayo is included, and they have made it clear they are unwilling to part ways with him. A potential package Miami could offer includes Herro, Jaime Jacquez Jr., Nikola Jovic, and multiple first-round picks.
