Eastern Conference Recaps, April 18: Darius Garland Helped Cleveland Cavaliers Even Series With New York Knicks

Darius Garland set the tone for the Cleveland Cavaliers in the first half of their bounce-back win over the New York Knicks.

Garland had 26 of his 32 points in the first two quarters to aid a struggling Donovan Mitchell. Mitchell only finished with 17 in the game, but benefited from Garland’s performance and a 24-point game from Caris LeVert. Evan Mobley and Jarrett Allen held it down defensively, combining for 23 rebounds, five blocks and five steals.

-So much attention goes to Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown on the Boston Celtics.

On Tuesday, Derrick White showed he is capable when needed.

He had 26 points, seven rebounds and three blocks in the Celtics' 119-106 victory against the Atlanta Hawks in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference playoffs. The Celtics lead the series 2-0.

“(Tatum and Brown) get a lot of attention. It just opens up the court for myself," White said. "When the opportunity is there I just have to attack and do what I do.”

Tatum finished with 29 points and 10 while Brown added 18 points. Dejounte Murray led the Hawks with 29 points while Trae Young added 24 on 9 of 22 shooting.

“I can be better,” Young said. “I didn't shoot the ball really well. I had some turnovers where I was just driving and it just left my hands. But I'm going to be better at home.”
