ESPN analyst Stephen A. Smith is known as a conversation starter for athletes because of his hot takes. 

On Thursday, he took it to another level. 

When Boston Celtics guard Derrick White got off to a fast start against the Miami Heat in Game 5, Smith couldn't help but chime in on Twitter. But it had nothing to do with White's play on the court. 

Smith used the opportunity to acknowledge White's hair. Both Smith and White are often playfully knocked for their hairlines, or lack thereof. 

"Derrick White (who has a totally normal hairline) looking great early!," Smith tweeted. 

The tweeted created quite the storm with hundreds or responses referring to both of their hairlines. 

Smith has always handled it well when viewers make fun of his hairline. It's almost became part of his schtick as a media personality. 

Last month Charles Barkley and Shaquille O'Neal dedicated a portion of their TNT broadcast to roasting White's hairline. 

"Is that Derrick White or Stephen A," Barkley said, trying to hold back the laughter. "Stephen A. plays for the Celtics." 

The Barkley and O'Neal roast came after White had 26 points in a victory against the Atlanta Hawks. This time, it followed a 24-point effort that helped the Celtics stave off elimination against the Heat in the Eastern Conference finals. He also played solid defense on Jimmy Butler. 

Jokes aside, White's impact on the Celtics getting back in the series is no laughing matter. He could play a huge role in Game 6 that could determine the Heat's season.
