Free Agency Fake Tweet Barrage Begins With Damian Lillard Claiming He Will Win MVP For Miami Heat

In this story:
Damian Lillard is predicting to win the MVP this season in his first year with the Miami Heat.
He is also going to turn to Jimmy Butler into one of the best No. 2 options in league history. Why?
Because social-media said so.
NBA free agency is a time for plenty speculation but it's also full of parody accounts on Twitter making false claims. It started Thursday when a fake user under the handle @TheNBAcentel (not to be confused with the credible @TheNBACentral) tweeted quotes from Lillard about playing in Miami this season.
“If I land in Miami next season, I’m gonna win MVP and Jimmy is gonna be my Pippen. Maybe it will take some time until we win one [championship] but it will definitely happen.”

“If I land in Miami next season, I’m gonna win MVP and Jimmy is gonna be my Pippen," the quote read. "Maybe it will take some time until we win one [championship] but it will definitely happen.”
This is nothing new for Heat and NBA fans. In 2020, a fake quote from Andre Iguodala saying Duncan Robinson was a better shooter than Steph Curry went viral. While this is an enjoyable time of year, just be careful about what is real and fake.
