Miami Heat center Bam Adebayo is once again considered among the favorites to win the NBA's Defensive Player of the Year.

But will he finally get the respect he deserves?

Adebayo has the fifth-best odds to win the award next season according to the sports gambling website Betonline.ag. Despite another strong year defensively, Adebayo did not even make the finalist list last season.

“Disrespectful," Adebayo said of being left off the list. "Obviously. I feel like I can do anything that you know two out of the three can do besides, I can’t teach height. But, they all three play on TV more than me so I would expect that. They get more TV games and they get more exposure. People like to talk about them more. People don’t like to talk about us. So, it’s whatever at that point.”

Memphis center Jaren Jackson Jr. (+650) has the best odds to repeat as the winner. He was followed by Cleveland Cavaliers center Evan Mobley (+850), Giannis Antetokounmpo (Milwaukee Bucks) and Anthony Davis (Los Angeles Lakers).

“I’m just really stunned that Bam isn’t a finalist for Defensive Player of the Year," Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said at the time. "I don’t know what people are watching and he’s played enough games so I don’t want that as an excuse... That’s the one disappointment of the year.”
