The Miami Heat selected Jaime Jaquez Jr. with the No. 18 pick in the NBA Draft.

And now is the time fans impulsively declare if he’ll be the next best thing or a regretful choice in hindsight. Some heaped praise on Jaquez, saying he was “underrated” and can develop within Heat Culture.

Jaquez averaged 17.8 points, 8.2 rebounds and 2.4 assists in his final collegiate season

“I think Jaquez is underrated,” one fan said. “He’s either going to shock the world and go crazy or he’s going to get traded to Portland.”

Others were disappointed the team bypassed Villanova forward Cam Whitmore.

Meanwhile, some are claiming Jaquez is involved in a potential package for Portland Trail Blazers star Damian Lillard, who is still tied to Miami in trade rumors.

However, fans should expect the Heat to develop the UCLA wing instead of insisting he’ll be a part of a trade scenario for a bigger player. President Pat Riley already shut down the idea of chasing a star in the offseason, saying the organization is looking at the draft to find talent. .
