The Memphis Grizzlies announced high-flying guard Ja Morant will be away from the team the next two games.

The decision comes days after Morant reportedly brandished a gun after being involved in a fight with a 17-year-old according to the Washington Post. Morant was then seen in an Instagram Live video Saturday morning holding up a hand gun that caused the NBA to investigate.

There were no charges filed or arrests made, but the league and the Grizzlies felt some action had to be taken. As one of the NBA's brightest stars, Morant could sure use a Udonis Haslem in the locker room.

Haslem is one of the toughest but most respected guys in the league. Growing up in the rough parts of Miami, he's probably seen a lot more than Morant in terms of the "hard knock" life. Many years ago, Haslem told me something in a pregame locker-room conversation. He said, "you don't have to show people you're a gangster. If you're a gangster, people already know."

Morant should take those words to heart. He's only 23, so he has plenty time to figure it out. Hopefully, it's sooner than later.
