Miami Heat ‘Daring’ Portland Trail Blazers To Explore the Trade Market

The Miami Heat are confident they will acquire Damian Lillard to the point of daring the Portland Trail Blazers to explore the trade market

The Portland Trail Blazers are not interested in the Miami Heat’s package for All-Star guard Damian Lillard. 

In response, the Heat are daring Portland to find another trade partner Lillard is willing to play for. On a recent episode of NBA Today, ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski discussed the intentions of Pat Riley and the Miami front office.

"[The Miami Heat] want Damian Lillard. They just want him for as little as they're going to have to give up, and they're essentially daring Portland to go out into the marketplace," Wojnarowski said. "Which is Portland is doing…and see if they can find better."

This offseason, the Blazers have expressed a lack of interest in the Heat’s best asset, Tyler Herro. A third team is expected to have involvement in order for Portland to receive a proper return for the superstar guard.

The confidence of Miami’s front office is justified by Lillard’s constant expression to play for the Heat. They need to proceed with caution because teams including the Toronto Raptors and New York Knicks are showing potential interest.
