Miami Heat Showing Interest In Jrue Holiday Following Damian Lillard Loss

In this story:
The Miami Heat have missed out on yet another superstar in Portland Trail Blazers’ Damian Lillard, who was traded to the Milwaukee Bucks.
In this deal, the Bucks traded veteran guard Jrue Holiday to the Blazers alongside other assets. According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, Portland is looking to move Holiday due to belief in their young backcourt of Scoot Henderson and Shaedon Sharpe.
Miami is among the contending teams showing interest in Holiday, according to Wojnarowski. Most are viewing Holiday as a consolation prize for the Heat because of his lack of flashiness and memorable plays.
The Blazers remain engaged elsewhere on deals and will are expected to immediately engage contending teams on trade talks to move on Jrue Holiday, sources tell ESPN. Portland is committed to its young group of talented guards. https://t.co/6IR7bcFVrr

However, this narrative is misleading because Holiday is one of the best two-way guards in the league who could provide leadership and defense for any contender. Last season, he averaged 19.3 points, 7.4 assists, and 1.2 steals.
Missing out on Lillard was not ideal for the Heat’s championship aspirations, but they have proven themselves on multiple occasions. In the past four seasons, Miami has reached the Finals twice, losing to the Los Angeles Lakers in 2020 and the Denver Nuggets last year.
Although disappointment will remain in the air, the addition of Holiday could help their odds of winning a title.
