Miami Heat's Erik Spoelstra On Wasting Jimmy Butler's Big Game Against Orlando Magic: "It's A Shame"

In this story:

Miami Heat forward Jimmy Butler wished the performance occurred during a win.

So did coach Erik Spoelstra. Both had the same reaction after Butler's 38-point effort wasn't enough to avoid Saturday's loss to the Orlando Magic

"He'll feel the same that I feel right now," Spoelstra said. "He's on an impressive run right now. It's a shame. Usually, you have that kind of effort, that kind of performance, you find a way to figure it out and get a win."

After the latest loss, the Heat are searching for answers to offer more support for Butler. He's averaging 33 points the last three games, with the Heat going 1-2.

"Obviously, just want to try to stay even or try to gain some ground before Jimmy gets back in," guard Tyler Herro said of when Butler is on the bench. Then we can set it up for him to finish."

Added forward Caleb Martin, What he brings and how he plays is always going to give us an opportunity to be in a position to win a game."

The Heat are simply relying too much on Butler of late. They need more balance, especially from Herro and Bam Adebayo.

"We definitely have enough," Spoelstra said. "Our offense has been trending in a better and that hasn't been just Jimmy. It's been getting to our game, our attacks, our identity. Great players, sometimes if it's kind of an uneven game, they have to take over.
