The New York Knicks will be without their leading scorer for the remainder of the regular season but it won't likely improve the Miami Heat's chances of moving up in the playoff seedings.

The Knick announced forward Julius Randle will miss the final five games because of an ankle sprain.

“Injuries happen,” Knicks coach Tom Thibodeau said, “and the thing that we have to understand is when you have a guy who’s averaging 25 points and 10 rebounds and five assists and doing the things that he’s doing, you’re not replacing him with an individual player."

A week ago, this news would have affected the Heat because they were in contention for the No. 5 seed. But after a three-game losing streak, the Heat are four games behind the Knicks. They only have slim hopes of catching the Brooklyn Nets, who are 1.5 games ahead for the No. 6 seed.

The Heat are looking mostly at participating in the play-in tournament but they still have a chance of avoiding it.
