Miami Heat forward Jimmy Butler has become a fan favorite during his time in South Florida.

It appears he has the seal of approval for another local. On Thursday, tennis star Coco Gauff, a South Florida native, was shocked to see Butler in the stands for her match in the second round of the Miami Open.

Gauff, the No. 6 seed, cruised to a 6-4, 6-3 victory over Rebecca Marino.

No.6 seed Coco Gauff started her 2023 Miami Open campaign with a 6-4, 6-3 second-round victory over Rebecca Marino on Stadium Court on Thursday.

In the post-match interview, Gauff said she was caught off guard by Butler's presence.

"It's really special. I have a lot of my family in the crowd and over there," Gauff said. "Even Jimmy Butler here so I was a little bit nervous when I saw him."
