The Miami Heat Can Continue Their Pursuit Of Damian Lillard After Portland Trail Blazers Draft Scoot Henderson at No. 3

In this story:
The Miami Heat received the good news they were hoping for tonight during the NBA draft.
The Portland Trail Blazers used the No. 3 pick to select G League star Scoot Henderson, which means they are planning on developing a young player instead of using it as trade bait for an experienced superstar. Blazers guard Damian Lillard had hoped for the latter, but now the chances of being traded are more likely.
Lillard has said he wants to play for a contender but refuses to compete for a team in the middle of a youth movement. On Thursday's episode of "Get Up" on ESPN, NBA analyst Brian Windhorst said teams are already lining up to make offers for Lillard if the Blazers choose to keep the pick.

"Anybody who would look at Dame Lillard ... Who asked [the Blazers] to go in a different direction and they draft anyway would say to him, 'It's time to go.'" pic.twitter.com/z3j9WneyU5
"Portland isn't admitting that but the rest of the league knows it," Windhorst said. "And they're preparing their offers for what happens in the next 24 to 72 hours ...They are already getting ready for the moment to happen."
The Blazers were reportedly interested in trading the No. 3 pick to the Heat in exchange for center Bam Adebayo. Those talks ended when the Heat said they weren't interested.
