In this story:

Portland Trailblazers guard Damian Lillard is heavily rumored to be traded to the Miami Heat this offseason, forming an All-Star Big Three with forward Jimmy Butler and center Bam Adebayo.

There are a multitude of proven and newfound Big Threes across the NBA. So, it poses the question of where Miami would rank with Lillard.

One proven trio is the Milwaukee Bucks with Giannis Antetokounmpo, Khris Middleton, and Jrue Holiday. The two-time MVP, Antetokounmpo, led the Bucks to a championship in 2021. Behind him are Middleton, a three-level scorer, and Holiday, a lockdown perimeter defender.

However, due to Holiday’s age and Middleton’s injury history, this trio does not stack up against the Heat.

A newly formed group is the Boston Celtics with Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown, and Kristaps Porzingis. Tatum and Brown have proven success together, reaching the Finals in 2022. The addition of versatile center Porzingis this offseason makes them a threat in the Eastern Conference.

The combined 13 All-Star selections between Lillard, Butler, and Adebayo are one of many reasons they rank first among the Big Threes. Adebayo and Butler are a seasoned duo, reaching the Finals in two of the past four seasons. Adding a superstar scorer and clutch performer in Lillard makes this trio have few flaws.

While Milwaukee may struggle with regression and Boston's lack of chemistry, Miami has neither issue. Adebayo and Lillard were teammates during the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, forming a friendship. The three have shown no signs of regression and have sustained only a few major injuries.
