Jazz Mock Draft Roundup 2.0: Experts Predict Pick 9

Now that the Utah Jazz are locked into the No. 9 overall pick, what are insiders predicting?

With closure on the recent NBA lottery, insiders are getting a clearer picture of how the first round may take shape as we approach the draft on June 29. The Utah Jazz have three first-round picks in their possession with opportunities to fill multiple needs come draft day.

What path will Jazz CEO Danny Ainge and company take in the draft? Let’s take a look at what the major outlets are saying now that the lottery is set in stone with pick No. 9

F Cason Wallace | The Ringer

“Kris Dunn’s production gives the Jazz an idea of what their point guard position could look like with someone like Wallace, who is a defensive-oriented player with size, playmaking ability, and downhill creation. Wallace faced cramped spacing at Kentucky, but he could thrive next to Utah’s shooters.” — Kevin O’Connor

F Grady Dick | ESPN

“The Jazz exceeded expectations this season, nearly landing a spot in the play-in tournament despite being forecasted to be among the NBA’s worst teams in preseason. With their frontcourt appearing well stocked with Walker Kessler and Lauri Markkanen, adding perimeter talent could make a lot of sense, especially a big dynamic shooting wing like Dick, who hit 40% of his 3-pointers last season and brings solid versatility with his toughness and feel for the game.” — Jonathan Givony

PG Cason Wallace | USA Today

“Given his ability to shoot and defend, Wallace looks to be a good fit with the Jazz. He brings a ton of energy on defense and has all of the tools and physical attributes to lock down opponents on a nightly basis. He showed he can run an offense efficiently after ranking second in the SEC in assists (4.3) and fourth in assist-to-turnover ratio. He also projects to be able to step in and log big minutes, if needed.” — Cody Taylor

PF Taylor Hendricks | CBS Sports

“The meteoric rise last season of Santa Clara star Jalen Williams -- and his subsequent stellar season as a rookie with OKC -- has taught us not to overlook mid-major stars. Hendricks is perhaps the latest example of that, as he starred for UCF last season as a sharpshooting forward who can protect the rim and be a havoc-wreaker on defense.” — Kyle Boone
