Jazz Re-Sign Point Guard Kris Dunn

Kris Dunn has been a blessing for the Utah Jazz with injuries stacking up.

The Utah Jazz have definitely been set back by the absence of starting point guard Collin Sexton, who has missed the last four games with a hamstring injury. There's no way the Jazz could have even moderately weathered that storm without the presence of Kris Dunn

On Friday, the Jazz announced that Dunn has been signed to another 10-day contract. Since his Jazz debut in a February 23rd victory over the Oklahoma City Thunder, Dunn has definitely made an impact.

Gleaning 22.3 minutes per game, Dunn has averaged 12 points, 4.5 assists, 3.8 rebounds, and a couple of steals through four contests. As Jazz head coach Will Hardy said following Friday night's ugly 130-103 road loss to the Thunder, there is no "replicating" what Sexton does.

But in tandem with Talen Horton-Tucker, Dunn has definitely mitigated the sting of Sexton's absence. The Jazz are 2-2 with Dunn, and sans Sexton, but there's a chance this team could be 0-4 without the seventh-year 6-foot-3 point guard.

Drafted No. 5 overall by the Minnesota Timberwolves back in 2016, Dunn has bounced around the league. Of late, it's been difficult for him to garner much more than 10-day-type contracts.

However, if Dunn continues to punch above his weight class, perhaps there could be more for the 28-year-old in Utah after this second 10-day contract expires. Time will tell.

Meanwhile, the Jazz have to figure out their spacing issues and how to score points consistently while Sexton and Jordan Clarkson are healing up on the sideline. Next up, the Jazz face the Thunder on the road once again on Sunday night.

With back-to-back embarrassing losses, Utah has to figure out how to get off this two-game schneid, and fast, if the team is going to preserve its playoff relevancy in the stacked Western Conference.
