Former Jazz PG Taken off on Stretcher After Scary Injury in World Cup

In this story:
A former member of the Utah Jazz took a frightening fall this morning as a part of the FIBA World Cup. Four-year Jazz G Raul Neto was going up for a transition layup early in the third quarter before things took a turn for the worst.
Neto slipped before going up to the basket as he landed awkwardly on his right leg. Players and staff crowded around the 31-year-old guard, as he was eventually taken off the floor on a stretcher. Initial reports via Basquete Brasil indicate he has suffered a torn patellar tendon in his right knee, potentially sidelining him from on-court action for an extended period of time.
Raul Neto was carried off on stretcher by medical team at the start of the 3rd quarter against 🇮🇷 Iran.

Before the incident, Neto was on his way to a productive showing in Brazil’s opening game in group play. In just 14 minutes played, he posted eight points on perfect efficiency, accompanied by four assists and a whopping five steals.
The eight-year NBA veteran spent four seasons in Utah, appearing in 199 games for the franchise from 2015 to 2019. Throughout his time with the Jazz, Neto averaged 4.8 points, 1.3 rebounds, and 1.9 assists.
Neto is fresh off of a summer signing a contract with Fenerbahce Beko, a club stationed in the EuroLeague for the upcoming season. Now, with a severe knee injury as the early diagnosis, it might take some extended rehabilitation to get back to full strength for the next chapter of his basketball career.
Despite the injury, Brazil handled business in their match against Iran, winning 100-59. NBA alum Bruno Caboclo led the way with 16 points, seven rebounds, and two steals.
Hoping for a quick and speedy recovery for Neto, Brazil will move forward against a respectable Spain team in their next match as a part of the group stages. With NBA faces like Juancho Hernangomez, Sandi Aldama, and Usman Garuba on the roster, Brazil might have their hands full, especially when not at 100%.
