Report: Jazz Accept Team Options for Walker Kessler & Ochai Agbaji

In this story:

In the days before the beginning of the 2023-24 NBA season, the Utah Jazz opted to accept the pending team options of second-year players Walker Kessler and Ochai Agbaji. After showing out in their rookie season and establishing themselves as core pieces of the franchise’s future, the Jazz have seen enough to keep them on for the 2024-25 year.

Both players have shown great flashes to prove that they’re key components of this team moving forward, making the decision to accept their options the unanimous expectation.

Kessler found himself averaging 9.2 points, 8.4 rebounds, and 2.3 blocks en route to becoming a finalist for Rookie of the Year. As for Agbaji, he averaged 7.9 points, 2.1 rebounds, and 1.1 assists, shooting over 35% from three while showing some exciting qualities on the defensive end.

Both will still have a second team option on the horizon scheduled for after the 2025 offseason. If all goes well, the Jazz would be expected to keep them on for those as well.

With a massive second year ahead for both Kessler and Agbaji, fans will have an exciting time ahead to watch how both have honed their craft from their rookie year. The Utah season and home opener kicks off on October 25th against the Sacramento Kings at the Delta Center, with an opportunity for the Jazz to start the new year on the right foot with a W.
