Utah Jazz head coach Will Hardy continues to make his presence felt here in Salt Lake City. The Jazz announced on Thursday that Hardy and his staff will host a youth basketball coaching clinic on September 9th in Salt Lake City. The Vice President of Jazz Youth, Nate Martinez, made the announcement on the Utah Jazz official website

“Aligned with our organization’s commitment to being a steward of the community, Will Hardy is passionate about finding ways to impact Utah’s basketball culture and is particularly focused on youth development,” Martinez said. “Youth coaches have a lasting impact on young athletes both on and off the court, and by hosting a clinic like this, the Jazz seek to provide participants with the skillset to boost their coaching confidence, build effective communication skills, and unlock the next generation of great talent.”

Hardy has hired four new coaches this summer since Alex Jensen and Irv Roland departed earlier this year. Mike Williams, Rich Higgins, Scott Morrison, and Chad Forcier will team up with Hardy in his second year as Utah’s head coach.

Williams is coming over from the Washington Wizards organization, where he was the head coach of the Capital City Go-Go. At just 27 years old, Williams will be the youngest coach on Hardy’s staff.

Higgins was most recently an assistant coach with the Houston Rockets. He has also spent time with the Orlando Magic (2018-20) and Charlotte Hornets (2013-18).

Morrison was promoted after leading the Salt Lake City Stars to a 20-12 record in 2022-23. He’s also a former Coach of the Year in the G-league back in 2015 before being an assistant coach for the Boston Celtics for four years starting in 2017.

Rounding out the new coaches is Forceir, whose most recent stint was with the Milwaukee Bucks, where he was an assistant coach from 2019-23. He also brings over 20 years of NBA coaching experience to the table.

The new hires will join Lamar Skeeter, Bryan Bailey, Evan Brands, Sean Sheldon, and Jason Terry in leading the upstart Jazz in 2023-24.
