That’s a wrap for the first round of group play for four Jazzmen participating in the FIBA World Cup. Some players will be advancing to the next round, while others finished group play in an underwhelming fashion.

Let’s dive in and take a look at how the Utah Jazz players faired.

Lauri Markkanen | Finland

It was an underwhelming tournament for Utah’s best player. Finland completed the hat trick on Tuesday with their third straight loss at the hands of Germany, 101-75. Markkanen finished the contest with only 12 points and two rebounds

The silver lining is that Markkanen escaped the tournament with no injuries and should be ready to roll with training camp only two months away.

Jordan Clarkson | Gilas Pilipinas

Utah’s most-tenured player also was unable to post a win in group play. On Tuesday, Gilas Pilipinas was defeated by Italy, 90-83.

From an individual standpoint, Clarkson went out on a high note by 23 points while hauling in seven rebounds and dishing out six assists.

Simone Fontecchio | Italy

Fontecchio was on the winning end of the matchup against his fellow teammate. The victory secured a spot for Italy to advance to the next round.

Fontecchio had a solid outing on Tuesday, finishing with 18 points and six rebounds. With the victory, Italy made it to the second round as the second-placed team in Group A.

Kelly Olynyk | Canada

If there’s a team that’s positioned to upend Team USA this year, it’s Canada. In its third blowout in as many games, Canada beat Latvia 101-75.

Olynyk had another solid outing, scoring 15 points and adding six rebounds. Jazz fans can expect to see plenty of Olynyk moving forward as he’s part of the main core and team captain.

Walker Kessler and Team USA will finish group play when they take on Jordan. With Team USA being a 42-point favorite, Jazz fans should anticipate a spike in minutes for Utah’s starting center.
