Bright Future? New York Knicks Stars Take in Solar Eclipse

Monday's total solar eclipse had New York Knicks stars Jalen Brunson, Donte DiVincenzo, and Josh Hart in awe.

Though their yearly set with Phoenix is long completed, the New York Knicks' stars faced a different kind of Sun on Monday.

New York's Villanova triumvirate was among the many enchanted by Monday's total eclipse, as Jalen Brunson, Donte DiVincenzo, and Josh Hart took a break from preparing for Tuesday's game against the Chicago Bulls (8 p.m. ET, MSG) by donning their glasses and viewing the solar phenomenon in the Windy City streets.

Knicks fans were perhaps worried about their stars' status when Hart took to X and asked if "Eclipse glasses" were "necessary." That led popular Knicks-supporting social account "Knicks Memes" to joke that Adrian Wojnarowski would soon report that Brunson, DiVincenzo, and Hart would be sidelined due to being "legally blind" after staring at the eclipse, which would certainly only add to the star-crossed medical season the team has endured.

Fortunately, Brunson responded to that post by proving that he and his fellow Wildcats were properly suited up for the occasion, donning their glasses for good measure as they took in the event.

The timing of the eclipse is perhaps perfect from a metropolitan perspective, as the team shot lights out in a major victory on Sunday: in a 122-109 win over the Milwaukee Bucks, New York shot over 63 percent from the field in the second half while Brunson (43) and DiVincenzo (26) united for 69 points on a combined 24-of-46. That win allowed the Knicks to inch closer to the second-place Bucks, as they sit one game behind them with four left on their respective dockets.

The next coast-to-coast solar eclipse is currently projected to occur in 2045.
