Knicks Fans Cry Foul Over Candace Parker's Reggie Miller Shirt

Some saw Candace Parker's Reggie Miller-branded gear as another shot at New York Knicks fans after her thoughts on Jalen Brunson drew their ire.

Candace Parker declared extended Miller Time by a few hours on Saturday.

With the WNBA offseason in its latter stages, Parker continued to engage in her side hustle as an NBA analyst on TNT, partaking in the network's coverage of All-Star Saturday festivities in Indianapolis. Parker's attire in the lead-up show raised a few metropolitan eyebrows, as some saw it as another strike in the perceived verbal war of attrition supposedly staged with New York Knicks fans.

With this weekend's All-Star showcase staged in Indianapolis, Parker donned a shirt depicting a minimalist version of Indiana Pacers legend Reggie Miller engaged in his famous choking gesture directed at Knicks superfan and lauded director Spike Lee during the rivals' 1994 playoff series. With Parker doubling down on her relatively unfavorable analysis of Knicks All-Star Jalen Brunson earlier last week, some of the Madison Square Garden faithful couldn't help but feel it was a subtle act of aggression.

To be fair to Parker, a two-time WNBA champion and MVP currently stationed with the Las Vegas Aces, Miller himself is also in attendance for the weekend's festivities, which are staged in Indianapolis for the first time since 1985. One can easily interpret it as a tribute to a colleague rather than any rash aggression in the ongoing row with Knicks fans.

An even more charitable interpretation could be have Parker subtly making peace with Knicks fans while simultaneously honoring one of the most memorable moments on both Miller and Indianapolis' timelines: the incident depicted on Parker's garb took place during Game 5 of the 1994 Eastern Conference Finals, which saw Indiana erase a New York lead thanks to 25 fourth period points from Miller. But the Knicks prevailed in each of the final two games of the series, affording them advancement to the NBA Finals for the first time in over two decades.

Miller and Parker will likely be back in action on Sunday, as TNT will carry coverage of Brunson's first All-Star Game showing at Gainbridge Fieldhouse (8 p.m. ET, TNT).
