Dwight Howard Weighs in On Lakers Chances to Win NBA Title This Season

In this story:
The Los Angeles Lakers are one of the best teams in the NBA. They have been on a run, including an impressive victory over the New York Knicks on Thursday night.
Now, the Lakers have won eight straight games and 14 of their last 16. They are one of the hottest teams in the league, and this started even before Luka Doncic started playing for them.
Now that Doncic is healthy and playing for Los Angeles, their ceiling is clearly much higher than it was before. He gives them a chance to win an NBA title this season.

Former Los Angeles Lakers player Dwight Howard seems to agree. He likes what this team has been able to accomplish thus far and thinks they have a real shot to win a title.

Howard won an NBA title with the Lakers in 2020 in the bubble and was actually a contributor on that team. He was the backup center who gave them some nice minutes off the bench.
Because Howard knows what it takes to win a title, he knows what to look for in a team that can win it all. He sees that in this year's version of the Lakers.
Doncic obviously gives them a great chance to win now that he has shed the rust that built up when he was hurt. He had 32 points and 12 assists against the Knicks.
LeBron James is another big reason why Howard likes what he sees. His former teammate continues to play at an extremely high level, even at the age of 40.
James had 31 points, 12 rebounds, and eight assists against the Knicks, further proving that he and Doncic can play well together. With those two on the court at the same time, they are dangerous.

The Lakers are expecting to be there at the end. Their defense hasn't fallen off like many NBA pundits thought it would without Anthony Davis anchoring the paint.
Instead, the Lakers keep winning games and keep playing some good defense.
