Lakers News: Anthony Davis Raves About New Frontcourt Partner

In this story:
When the Los Angeles Lakers brought in big man Christian Wood to add to the thin depth they had at the center position, it was met with a ton of optimism. Wood joined LA on a minimum deal, and for his skillet, that is a steal.
His ability to space the floor on offense gives the Lakers something that they haven’t had in a while, and it should help unlock something within their system. He also can attack the basket decently and puts the ball into the basket at a high rate.
Lakers star Anthony Davis spoke about his new frontcourt mate and gave some insight into what he brings to the table.
“The ability to just get the ball and score at three different levels, it’s gonna be big for us.”

Getting Wood should help take some of the load off Davis throughout the season as well. They can send Wood into the game for a few minutes at a time to give Davis some needed rest and trust that Wood can help hold down the fort.

While he isn’t a great defender, Wood can block a shot or two throughout a game. He needs to get better reading offenses, otherwise, he will get sent to the bench sooner than expected. But, he can hold his own for a few minutes and provide a needed scoring punch during that time.
It may some time for Wood to fully learn the Lakers schemes, but they should be a better team with him on the roster. He is a low-risk, potentially high-reward signing for this team, and if he can buy in, LA will be in great shape.
His effort level has been questioned by many across the league, but he is determined to show that he can be a valuable player in terms of impacting winning. This will be the season to do that for Wood, and he could then boost his value across the NBA in the process.
