Lakers News: Joel Embiid Joining Team USA, LeBron James For 2024 Olympic Bid

A huge addition for Paris.

Lakers superstar Lebron James mentioned interest in returning to the Olympic roster next summer after this year's Team USA FIBA World Cup flameout and other NBA stars stated similar wishes in the tournament's fallout.

Among those is Joel Embiid who announced earlier this week that he'd join Team USA for the Paris Olympics after a hard choice between the American team and two other eligible nations.

Rebounding turned out to be a huge issue for Jaren Jackson Jr. at this summer's FIBA World Cup and with Embiid for Paris, the Americans get some major help in that department for their next big international tournament.

The reigning NBA MVP cited his son as a major influence on Embiid's decision and it makes sense why he dedicated the MVP trophy in his honor as well.

The Cameroonian native passed upon his home country as well as the French national team due to his son's birth on American soil.

Whatever the case may be, Embiid's addition to the stars and stripes makes them the team to beat in Paris even before other superstars confirm their interest.

Much like the 1992 Dream Team the US's superstars now want to maintain dominance on the international stage after some shortcomings from their countrymen.

Embiid will likely join James and possibly Anthony Davis among many other American superstars with a gold medal on their collective minds.

Team USA hasn't lost a gold medal in an Olympic competition since the infamous 2004 team yet international competition has been stiffer in recent years.

Embiid's inclusion on the American team will hopefully make the distance a tad further when the Summer Games arrive in just under a year.
