Lakers News: LA Eyeing Trade Reunion With Recent Crunch-Time Role Player

Should LA pursue the veteran once again?

Your Los Angeles Lakers are expected to be one of the more active teams at the trade deadline this season. With their season teetering on the brink of destruction, the front office is looking at all avenues to improve the club.

They have been linked with multiple All-Stars already, but also with one potential reunion as well.

ESPN's Dave McMenamin reports that the Lakers could be looking to potentially bring back point guard Dennis Schröder. Schröder spent last season with the Lakers before heading to Toronto on a two-year deal.

"The Toronto Raptors have two players on their roster the Lakers have interest in as well, sources said: Dennis Schroder and Bruce Brown. Schroder was L.A.'s backup point guard last season before signing with Toronto for the full midlevel exception in the summer."

Per Dave McMenamin of ESPN

Getting Schröder back would mark the third time that he has been a member of the Lakers, but it would be a welcome sight. Many people wanted Schroder to return last summer, but it became evident very fast that it wouldn't happen.

However, the Lakers could use his skill set, and he already knows the system in place. His defensive ability would be a great addition to the team, and the Lakers would get more energy on the court as well.

The Raptors seem very open to making moves this season, as they look to enter into a rebuild. We've seen them make a few already, which opens the door for more to come.

"With the Raptors already completing a trade with the New York Knicks to acquire two ball-dominant players in RJ Barrett and Immanuel Quickley, Schroder could become expendable."

Per Dave McMenamin of ESPN

Schröder has been great for the Raptors, shooting 35.9% from three-point land. He has averaged 13.9 points and could be a massive upgrade for this Lakers team.
